Worship & Arts Ministry

 Ministry

Description…

Adult Choir

Choral Music 4-part harmonies. Practice Sunday after late service. Sing end of early service and beginning of late service.

Children’s Youth Choir

Grades 4 through High School. Practice Sunday after late service.

Hand Bells

Practice Wednesday 6-7 pm.

Praise Team

Practice Saturdays 9:30-11 am. Guitars, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, Vocalists, Flutists, etc.

Featured Music

Soloists (Instrumental, vocalists). Usually during Offertory.

Sound Technicians

Adjust sound levels for musicians and speakers.

Video Screen Operators

Computer Operator for Order of Worship on the video screens.

Bible Readers

Publicly read Scripture during Sunday Services (Old Testament and Epistle Lessons).

Nursery Providing Care for Children During Late Service.  Contact Shannon McGee.

Ushers

Welcome people into the worship center, handing out bulletins and assisting with offertory plates.

Acolytes

5th – 8th Graders who light the candles for worship services.

Communion Preparation

Preparation and clean-up of Lord’s table.

Banner Making

Prepare special wall hangings for the worship center.

Drama (Skits, etc.)

Writing and acting out stories that teach the Kingdom of God via skits, etc.

 Education Ministry

Description

Teacher (all age groups)

Teach groups of people with materials provided.

Sunday Bible Study

Meets every Sunday at 9:30 am throughout the year in the Library.

Cottage Bible Study

Small group ministry that meets once-a-month in people’s homes.

Women’s Bible Study

Women meet regularly for Bible Study.

Men’s Bible Study

Men meet regularly for Bible Study.

Christian Scouts

Children meet regularly on Wednesday evenings to learn about the Bible in new ways, do crafts, take field trips and do service projects.

Library

Help to organize and keep Church Library in working order.

Vacation Bible School

Help to organize and run a fun week of Bible Study, singing, games & crafts during the summer.

 Fellowship Ministry

Congregational Meals

Help to provide meals for special events—i.e., Pot Luck, Funerals, Seder, etc.

Kitchen Coordinator

Help to organize supplies and keep kitchen clean and in working order.

Sunday Morning Fellowship

Help to organize and serve at Coffee Hour and other fellowship events on Sunday Mornings.

Church Picnic

Help to organize for our annual church picnic.

 Prayer Ministry

Prayer Chain

Receive and make calls for those in need of prayer.

E-Prayers

Help to organize & monitor the prayers received by email posted on the Web Site and the Prayer List for the Bulletin Insert.

Prayer Vigil

Help Pastor plan and find volunteers to help with Prayer Vigils.

Special Prayer Gatherings

Praying privately with people before or after Sunday Morning Worship who have specific needs.

 Friendship and Recreation Ministry

Description…

Kids of the Kingdom (Preschool – Grade 1)

Children Preschool – 1st Grade who meet quarterly to do crafts, go on field trips, and do servant events (i.e., visit Nursing Homes).

Lutheran Kids (Grade 2 – 5)

Children 2nd – 5th Grade who meet monthly for fellowship activities and do servant events.

Junior Youth Ministry (Grade 6 – 8)

Youth 6th – 8th Grade who meet regularly for Bible Study, fellowship, and do servant events.

Senior Youth Ministry (Grade 9 – 12)

Youth 9th – 12th Grade who meet regularly for Bible Study, fellowship, and do servant events.

Young Adults (Ages 18 – 35)

Young adults in their late teens, 20’s & early 30’s who meet for fellowship and servant events.

Adults Ministry (Ages 35 – retirement)

For those 35 & up through retirement age who meet for fellowship and servant events.

Golden Agers (Those retired)

Those who are retired who meet for fellowship and servant events.

Sports & Activities:

 

Exercise Classes                          (Men & Women, All Ages)

 Taught by Brenda Rahn.  Meets every Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  Exercise both body and soul!

LWML (Lutheran Women’s Ministry League)

Women who meet monthly for fellowship, Bible Study and mission events

 Outreach Ministry

Description…

Human Care:

Provides Christian care in our local community.

      Food Bank

Collects food items for the Mt. Juliet Food Bank.

      Christmas Collection

Helps several needy families at Christmas.

      Card Ministry

Sends cards of encouragement and care to sick and grieving members.

      Special Meals

Prepares meals for sick members.

      Local Ministries

Other areas to serve locally, such as serving meals at the Union Rescue Mission, etc.

Missions:

 

      Mission Education

Coordinates awareness, education campaigns, and collections for various national and world missions.

      Mission Trips

Plans mission trips for interested members to serve others in need.

Visitor Follow-Up

Contacts visitors by phone, sends follow-up information about Emmanuel.

Advertising/Public Relations

Publishes and distributes information about Emmanuel to the community.

Personal Outreach

Coordinates training activities for outreach; sponsors speakers to help others witness Christ’s love.

New Member Assimilation

Welcomes new members with New Member Dinners, develops biography sketches, and discovers talent & gift identification information.

Deaf/Hard of Hearing (HOH)

Provides communicative, social, and emotional support for the HOH to enable full participation in worship. Coordinates/provides contact sign interpreting, FM Assistive Listening Devices, written sermon notes, signing classes, lip-reading classes, etc.

Nursing Home Visits

Visits nursing home residents.

Trinity / Hope

Help us show God's love by feeding hungry Haitian children.  This year we are sponsoring Mixte School of de L'avenir, Pont Sonde through funds raised our "Thanksgiving Night in the Hunger Fight" fundraiser in November.  Click on the link to find out more.

         Operations/Administration Ministry

Description…

Property Management Teams:

 

      Building Team

Responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement of the building facility.

      Grounds Team

Responsible for the remainder of the property outside the buildings, including the landscape and undeveloped land.

Communication Team:

This is for those with talents and gifts to work in keeping the congregation and community informed about the various ministries and functions taking place at Emmanuel. These include:

Support Services Team:

Those who would be interested in providing clerical support for ministries as Office Help and Staff Support.

Volunteer Coordinator

To assist or lead volunteer program for the various ministries at Emmanuel.

 Financial Ministry

  Ministry

Description…

Counters

Assigned to count the weekly tithes & offerings given at each service (Monthly rotation).

Auditors

Perform an annual audit of all financial accounts of the church and related ministries.

Treasurer

Pays the bills and accounting records.

Budget Committee

Meet as necessary with various ministry teams to annually present a balanced financial budget proposal for the congregation to consider.

Stewardship Committee

Work at educating and motivating members in the giving of time, talents and treasure for the glory of God and the building up of His Kingdom.
